90% of eel population may of gone form our rivers

Interesting news story from the BBC this week

  1. This has been coming for quite some time, going back 20 years we used to run a traditional eel trap located inside an old water mill on the River Test, we would be able to take hundreds of pounds in weight of eels in a single night. Inside ten years returns were so bad it was barely worth staying up all night to run the thing. It's a great mystery and a pity that the once abundant eel may soon be no more in the UK.
